Chignik Airport Access Road Rehabilitation

West served as general contractor on the Chignik Airport Access Road Rehabilitation, an Alaska Department of Transportation project located along the shore of Anchorage Bay in Chignik, Alaska, on the South side of the Alaska Peninsula. The primary work scope consisted of widening 4,300 lineal feet of the access road offshore and protecting the fill slopes with armor rock. The rock fill and armor was obtained from the local commercial quarry which was operated by West under an existing agreement with Far West Incorporated, the local Alaska native village corporation.

Work scope quantities included 5,500 cubic yards of excavation, 13,400 cubic yards of rock fill, 9,300 cubic yards of under layer stone, 12,000 cubic yards of filter stone, 6,600 cubic yards 3,000 lb armor stone, 11,300 cubic yards of 5,400 lb armor stone, 8 culverts, 5 concrete headwalls, and 1,100 cubic yards of aggregate surfacing. The contract value was $4 million.
