Port of Anchorage North Bulkhead Completion
West finished the $52 million Port of Anchorage North Bulkhead Completion project, a takeover of a previous contract that had encountered difficulties and stopped construction. West began with a deep soils densification project, known as Vibracompaction. That work entailed 3,200 deep probes to densify deep soils with a heavy HP section and a 1,000 HP vibratory hammer. Pre and post STP testing was part of the project to verify soil values were improving as required by the project designer.
The project has a total of 66 cells holding 1,600,000 cubic yards of fill and a bulkhead length of 1,800 LF.
