Yakatat Multi Purpose Dock
West constructed a $4.1 million Open Cell® sheet pile dock for the Borough of Yakutat. The construction of the dock included the installation of 476 Owner furnished sheet pile in 8 open cells. Once the sheet pile was installed, the cells were filled with 25,000 cubic yards of gravel. West also installed a face beam on the dock, 3 fender piles, 4 tire fenders, and a catwalk to a separate fuel float. The work was accomplished using a 125 ton crane mounted on West’s barge, the Robert L. West. Only trucking and survey work was subcontracted, and the remaining 92% of the work was self performed.
